The College of Design sponsors a variety of professional development and career networking activities for both undergraduate and graduate students. These events and activities give students an opportunity to make professional connections, explore career and internship options, and see theory in practice. The experiences support classroom learning and encourage students to take a proactive approach to designing their professional futures.

Apparel Design Portfolio Panel

11:45 am - check-in and lunch begins
12:00-1:00 pm - portfolio panel discussion

This event is an opportunity for all apparel design students to ask questions from a panel of 3 experienced apparel designers relating to a professional portfolio.

Graphic Design Studio Tour - TOUR HAS FILLED UP

9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Join us as we visit mono and Sevnthsin, two graphic design studios in Minneapolis.  We will hear from designers at each firm, get a tour of their work space, and see projects the studios have completed in the past. 

Schedule:
9:30 am - Meet in McNeal Hall atrium and board bus
10:00-11 am - mono
11:15 am-12:15 pm - Sevnthsin
12:30 pm - Return to McNeal

Architecture Networking Event and Career Panel
Thursday, April 1, 2010
6:00-8:30 pm Rapson Hall

Join us for the Architecture Networking and Career Panel event for undergraduate and graduate students in architecture.  This event is an opportunity for all architecture students to begin making connections with professionals and ask questions from a panel of experienced architects. 

Schedule:
6:00pm - Check-in; Rapson Courtyard

6:00-6:30 (Courtyard) - Students get portfolio feedback from professionals. 

6:30-7:30 (Rapson 56) - Career Panel

Landscape Architecture Site Visit - Peavy Plaza
Wednesday, April 7, 2010
5:30 - 8:00 pm

Join landscape architecture and environmental design students as we visit Peavy Plaza in downtown Minneapolis.  The event will begin with background information and presentation on the historic Peavy Plaza site.  This will take place at Damon Farber Associates.  Food included!
After the presentation, students and tour guide (Gina Bonsignore, landscape architect) will walk to the Peavy Plaza site to view the area.

Schedule:
5:30 pm - Meet near Room 100 Rapson and board bus
5:55 - Arrive at Damon Farber Associates begin presentation
6:30 - Walk to Peavy Plaza for tour
8:00 - Return to Rapson
