The School of Architecture's mission is to educate professional architects and to advance architectural knowledge and creative practice through design-centered teaching and research. To support this mission it maintains a strong faculty composed of academics and practicing architects.

Teaching, research, and outreach improve the human experience by addressing social issues, environmental conditions, and advancing the departmental disciplines: clothing design, graphic design, housing studies, interior design, and retail merchandising.

The Department of Landscape Architecture offers preprofessional and accredited professional degrees. The department provides comprehensive training in ecology, aesthetics, and technical skills and offers students the opportunity to study within the state's diverse ecological and cultural communities.
