Class of 2013 Orientation and Welcome Week

Welcome Class of 2014!

May 1, 2010: Enrollment confirmation fee due

In order for us to invite you to orientation you need to first pay your enrollment confirmation fee. You will receive a letter from the Office of Admissions telling you how to do this, or you can go to the Admissions Web Site at http://admissions.tc.umn.edu for advance instructions on how to pay your fee.

June-July, 2010: Freshman orientation

Fall 2010 freshman orientation invitations will start coming in the mail in March, 2010. Please block out the second through fourth weeks in June and the first three weeks in July for your potential orientation session (make-up orientation is in August.) This great two-day (and REQUIRED!)) event is hosted by Orientation and First Year Programs and College of Design staff. Most importantly, orientation is where you register for fall 2010 classes. Read below for a link to reserve your space at orientation. However, you can't do this until you receive your assigned orientation dates and on or after April 3rd, when the orientation RSVP link will be open to take online reservations.

Required steps before orientation

  • Read all orientation mailings very thoroughly!
  • Submit the online orientation reservation & advising survey to reserve your space at the orientation dates to which you were assigned.
  • If you took college classes in high school be sure to have an official transcript sent to the U of M for those courses (it takes 1-2 months for the U of M to process transcripts).
  • Take your placement exam by May 31 (all majors required to take it); information will come with your orientation invitation.
  • Learn the Registration System Tutorial BEFORE orientation so you are prepared to register at orientation. Don't choose classes, just learn HOW to do it!
  • Initiate your e-mail account and bring your username and password to orientation so you can register.
  • Sign up for Active Directory before orientation. For more information click HERE. To sign up click HERE.

Starting September 2, 2010: Welcome Week!

Your college experience continues with Welcome Week, starting Sept. 2nd, 2010. Welcome Week is an on-campus program designed to continue and complement your orientation experience, provide opportunities to enhance your academic and personal success, and prepare you to begin school on the following Tuesday!
